Before You Start

  • Get your phone with you – charged

  • Update your iCard app if needed

  • Make sure you are alone, in a quiet and well-lit space

  • Check if your internet connection is stable

  • Have your International Passport or EEA ID card ready (temporary EU residence permits are NOT accepted as the main identification document)

To start the identification process, open iCard on your phone and tap the main menu (top-left). Tap on “Verify your identity” to start the process and simply follow the on-screen instructions to unlock all that iCard has to offer.

Check the types of documents you can use to verify your identity with iCard. Select your country of nationality, regardless of where you currently live in the EEA.

The verification process

To make your life easy, the process is totally digital, available on your phone and takes less than 5 minutes. All you need at this stage is to present a valid ID or Passport. Your document will be scanned with your main camera and a selfie picture will be taken with the front camera.

Why we need to know who you are?

Your security is our priority. We make sure it’s up to the highest standards and in full accord with our licensor - the Bulgarian National Bank. We need to comply with strict local and pan-European regulations, before unlocking access to all financial operations on iCard. This helps us ensure no third party can misuse your information or access your account for illegal purposes.

What additional documents we may request?

Proof of address

When is it needed?

We will ask for your “proof of address” if the ID you used during the identification process has no address on it.

What are acceptable “proof of address” documents:

  • Any utility bill, no older than 3 months, with your name and address on it, except a mobile phone bill

  • A bank statement with your name and address on it

EEA residency card/permit

When is it needed?

If you identify yourself with a document or ID that was issued outside the EEA, we will ask for your “residence permit”.


You currently live in France but you were born in Brazil. You presented to us your Brazilian passport during the identification process. You need to be an EEA resident before you can use iCard digital wallet. Therefore, we will ask you to send us a valid residence permit for an EEA country. In case that there is no address displayed on your residence permit, we will ask you to also send a “proof of address” document.

An alternative document may be needed if:

  • the ID you presented is worn off or unreadable

  • our agents noticed any discrepancies

  • your ID will expire in less than 3 months

  • the ID you present is not biometric
