How do contactless payments work?

Contactless payments on your card function through near-field communication (NFC). If you’re experiencing issues with contactless payments, keep the following in mind:

• Check if your card is active and the POS payments are enabled in your card settings.
• If your card is new, make sure to activate it before you use it.
• Contactless payments with your card in some cases require a card PIN. Please check this topic.
• Ask the employee at the cash desk if the POS terminal actually supports contactless payments.
• Make sure you hold your card directly on top of the NFC reader of the POS terminal. Keep in mind that if you remove your card too fast or don't hold it close enough, the payment will fail. If that's the case, just try again.
• If contactless is not working, please always try to use the Chip & PIN method to complete your payment.
