What is a Politically Exposed Person (PEP)?

A politically exposed person is an individual who is or has been entrusted with a prominent public function. Requirements for a PEP apply to family members or close associates of such people.

When going through the questionnaire, you’ll be asked if you or any of your close relatives are a PEP. In case you’ve chosen one of the two options that either you or a close relative is a PEP but you can’t answer what the public function is, then probably you don’t fall into this category.

Keep in mind that if you declare that you or any of your relatives are a PEP, you’ll be asked to print and fill in a Politically Exposed Person questionnaire. If you’ve mistakenly marked the option, you’d still have to fill it in.
